In partnership with artist Lulu Yueming Qu, known for her unique style of blending traditional asian art techniques with modern western art techniques, Golden Guide created an illustrated map celebrating Chinatown LA.
Lulu Yueming Qu is an artist trained in the traditional Chinese painting style who graduated from the master school at Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2014. She moved from Beijing to New York to obtain her second master’s degree in illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After spending 4 years’ in New York, she relocated to San Diego in late 2018 to continue her focus on professional illustration and founded LULU.LIVE ART in 2019.
She came to the united states to broaden her art skills albeit she still uses traditional Chinese painting materials; such as, ink, gouache, and Chinese brushes while drawing the modern city landscapes, fashion, and nature. She is passionate about combining traditional Asian art technique with modern western art techniques together to explore more artistic possibilities. Her clients include magazines, restaurants, teashops, fashion studios and education programs, such as Goodwill NYNJ, Eurostar, China National Radio, Cipriani, Parkway Plaza, Institute of Culinary Education, Joe’s Pizza, Angelika Film Center, FIT Foundation, MILK x HongKong magazine, Edible Magazine, GIPHY, Educate Tomorrow, SDG&E, ArtReach, Chinese for Affirmative Action, and more. She was invited to do live sketches at New York Fashion Week from 2015, by both American and Chinese fashion designers. She participated multiple solo and group exhibitions in New York City and San Diego, and is published in several magazines.
While she works on her own art projects, she always loves to share her art skills with people of all ages and skill levels. Right now Lulu is a teacher at us Arts Education Center San Diego. She teaches young students how to use different art techniques and she teaches adult students traditional Chinese painting class. She wants to share the traditional Chinese culture to American, as well as the Chinese people who live in US.
